ICQ & WinXP

Question

I can't find the info in the forums... (ICQ is below four letters required for search)...:ermm:

Sometimes, when I reinstall ICQ in WinXP, the contact list looks "themed", sometimes looks just "classic".... I can't explain this behavior and I can't change the "classic" to "themed" appearance...

How can I fix this...???

Workarounds..???

Thanks in advance for your help guys... :D

i think it depends on the version of icq u using cause the newest version doesn't support themes so it looks normal and the version b4 that does...strange..

btw i formatted my bros comp and tried installing icq back on to it but it stops at 91% and just freezes there i've tried downloading it again but still same prob.

ICQ 2002a Build#3722 is the one that will use XP styles.

I think cuz too many people were confused by ICQ having 3 buttons on the main window, (minimize, maximize, and close), and showing on the taskbar and tray like MSN Messenger, that ICQ went back to the way it always has been. Which really chaps my a** as I was always lookin forward to ICQ accepting XP styles.

Of course ICQ hasn't upgraded they're screenshots to show that they've went back to the old style!

I make sure I keep a copy of that version in case I need to go back to it if any new versions don't accept the XP styles.

I was suspecting something like that...

or it might be because icq is not capable of using com controls 5

and its not good so its suitable of using classic instead...

youll need a .manifest file in your icq directory for your theme buttons

but for the title bar and borders of the icq window you cant do it yet you need third party apps

icq plus does it the best... but thats all i can think of right now..

im not much of a programmer

post in the programming section and ask what's the section of code to manifest the buttons of xp theme under programs

nd all you do is i think paste it in a ntoepad and save it in your directory as ICQCORE.manifest

if i dont 4get wrong thats should be it

but i reackon ur better off with icq plus.. and import your visual styles from icq +
