Audigy 2 Working

Recommended Posts

after many, many frustrating attemps, I finally got my card working. Maybe it will work for you

download these drivers

go to the Creative site and download the standalone control panel.

only 2.1 works, but they work

they're dated 8/8/05

Well I guess it's better than using my Kx audio driver with sounds coming from the rear speakers instead of the fronts` :D

You need to check the option that says "Swap Front and Rear Speakers". It's in there.

By the way, I've always loved the KX drivers...they offer a lot more control without the headaches of extra programs. http://kxproject.lugosoft.com/down.php?language=en

I never had any luck with the kx driver (I'd love to ****can creative) Even in XP, the installer won't install the driver, and if I manually point at the .inf file, I BSOD

cropcircles, could you explain it more clearly?

so you:

1) download that driver

2) install it in XP? (what do you mean install in XP? So you dual boot in XP and reinstall in Vista?)

3) why do you need to re-update from the CD as the downloaded one surely has a higher version?

I downloaded the Creative Sound Blaster Audigy 2 and Audigy 2 ZS series Beta driver with OpenAL support (18.84 MB)  from here http://us.creative.com/support/downloads/download.asp and installed in XP mode. Then I updated from my Audigy installation CD and it updated with no problems. 5.1 surround sound.

Thansk to you

I have the ZS Platinum Pro and it keeps saying that it cannot find the file when trying to install the drivers. I tried the ones from the non-creative site, and Creative now has an updated version that does not work either with same error, are you guys using 5219 or Beta 1?

I did get the Audigy 2 ZS Plat Pro finally working by installing the normal drivers from Creatives site, the one from 2003. It is the only one that will install, the others either say failed to find file or time out trying to install, so this is the best I can do on 5219. I do got sound, but it gets crackly real fast if I start doing stuff, oh well, only beta. :)

Sorry for the delay, just finished modding an xbox.

1) Install the driver in XP mode. Before you install, right click on the file and click on the compatability tab, then "Run this program in compatability mode for" then choose XP.

2) I do have a dual boot with XP. Vista is on a seperate partitian. When I PC boots up it gives you a choice of either XP Profession or Longhorn (Vista)

3) open up CD and go to: Audio/Driver or X:\Program Files\Creative\SBAudigy2\Program\support\i386 then go to: CTZAPXX "Creative Devise Driver Installation Program" right click to compatability and Run in XP mode.

Hey it worked for me?

The drivers for other cards (xfi, audigy 4, ect.) should still work on an audigy 2. You may have to manually extract them from the install package though.

I'm currently using 2.07.0003 for the x-fi series on my audigy 2. Haven't tried them for vista yet, but they're the best/most stable out of the current driver releases. The 2.08 version gave me popping in WinXP, so I came back to 2.07.

Hi There,

Installed 5219, enabled glass and such and saw this thread earlier. After reading over and over cropcircles instructions I still don't find them that clear.

If I was to install the drivers, do I download them and then install them, install them from the CD or install them from my XP installation?

If I download and install them from the interenet or install them from the CD then what does the Dual Boot thing have to do with this?

Sorry for being such a noob for asking...

Thanks in advance.

Just what Audigy 2 card do you have? I know there are some differences i believe in the drivers depending on which varient you have (ie normal, plat or plat pro)
