Recommended Posts

Just what Audigy 2 card do you have? I know there are some differences i believe in the drivers depending on which varient you have (ie normal, plat or plat pro)

I have a value, which is at the low end, but I figure if mine will work, the z, plat, ect should. Creatve must have updated in some way, originaly I couldn't even get the out-of -the box CD to work

Vista 5219 is possessed. I uninstalled 5219 last week and reinstalled it yesterday. The previous audigy 2 beta driver that worked before wouldn't work this time and I tried every way possible to force those drivers with no luck. SO, I went back for the hell of it and tried the Kx full and installed in XP compatability and they took. Full sound. WTF?

So lets recap all of this because I got sorta lost:

Can and how a Audigy 2 ZS card work in Vista with at least 5.1 sound?

Confusing isn't it. My take rIaHc3 is you just need to keep trying a driver until it takes. What works for me might not work for you.

First install of Vista I used this one: http://www.fileshack.com/file.x?fid=6644 and it took and worked. I installed from desktop in XP compatability.

The second time I installed Vista I used the Kx drivers and they worked. Installed in XP compatability mode. The previous driver listed above wouldn't install the second time and I tried numerous ways. Why this happened I have no clue. Some people have gotten their drivers to work installing in safe mode. Some people have extracted their .exe driver contents into a file on the desktop and then updated from their Creative driver listed in device manager. I know this hasn't been helpful but I don't think there is any easy answer here.

Yeah, 5219 is quite weird. My sound wouldnt work correctly first install, second install it worked and studdered, third install it hosed it, fourth install it worked fine no studdering whatsoever... I cant wait until the next build, Per-Application Audio is "supposed" to be included in it.

A bit off topic: Tried adding keywords to a JPEG file yet? It'll corrupt it.
