Annoying Switch off

Recommended Posts

Well I thought I had it good, but now it's just annoying. I have win2k3 as my primary OS through the promise fasttrak 378 controller. Vista 5112 would not accept the win2k3 driver for the promise controller during setup, so I stuck the cable on the regular 1st channel IDE. After a successful install of vista the second partition, I got curious and put the hard drive back on the promise controller. Vista loaded amazingly and then when it got to the desktop it installed the win2k3 driver and accepted my promise controller (i guess it was compatible after all)

BUT... when the evaluation ended, I decided to try out this new release of vista(which finished downloading yesterday) I followed the same procedure as before by changing from promise to regular IDE and it installed. BUT, when I boot up in this new version of the beta, (on the promise controller) i get a blue screen. Now in order to get into win2k3, I have to open the case and put it on the promise. Or if I want to get into vista, i have to stick the cable back on the regular IDE.

Did M$ change something that doesn't let you force drivers? Or is a raid controller complete incompatible in this version?
