Couple Q's towards Ultimate 2519

Recommended Posts

First one, I cant seem to get my audio drivers working with my augidy 2 ZS gamer card properly. I got the kX project drivers and when i reboot i get "please reinstall the driver, or if you didnt reboot please do so now, or if you are installing still please discard this message". Another is How come AIM stopped working :-/ . once i installed it with my OS it was working properly. Now i try to open it but in the task manager it shows it being open, but i cant seem to actually view it anymore let alone a icon in the task bar next to the time. Another question is which drivers do i need to get the glass look and the high end FX features i saw in videos and screen shots. I have a nVidia geforce 6800 ultra 256, AMD Fx55 cpu, 1gig corsair ram. Any help IS GREATLY appreciated. Thanks So much ahead of time!

Derek.

First off all, for your audigy 2 install the second drivers on the page below. They won't enable all the features of your card but sound will at least work.

Second, I originally thought the 75.03 Nvidia drivers were the only method to get glass working. However it appears on my computer at least that if you install the drivers included in Vista (using the supplemental drivers wizard) and disable the EnableMachineCheck registry entry (search around for tips on this one) that glass works and performance is vastly improved.

Can't help you with AOL, sorry.

@Inertia: Yeah, thats the one

@Glass: First, call me Ames. I hate the Admiral prefix and one of these days I'm gonna rid myself of it, lol

After researching the issue, it appears glass will function on any DX9 compatible card (and possibly some pre-DX9 cards), regardless of the driver set, as long as the following is done.

This will only work in Build 5219. Not Beta 1 Build 5112 as far as I know.

I am personally using the latest Nvidia drivers off their website with Glass on a Geforce 6600GT

1. Go to start --> run and type "regedit". Hit enter

2. Navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/Software/Microsoft

3. Go to edit --> new --> key and call it "DWM" without quotes

4. Highlight that key and go edit --> new --> DWORD (32-bit) Value

5. Name it "EnableMachineCheck" without quotes

6. Double click it and give it a value of 0.

7. Close regedit and reboot.

Good luck.

I can validate this Iam runnin 2x 6800u (SLI) on the 78.01

forceware.

No games / direct3d software will run unless you use ctrl+shift+f9 to get out of glass mode ,then play the game ,then coem back to glas mode when you quit the game.

is there a command to disable / enable glass ? so i coudl use batch files to turn it off ,launch the game and then turn it on when the game closes ? rather than having to do it manualy ?

Right click the games executable and on the compatibilty tab select, disable the Desktop Composite Manager.

It will automatically re-enable it when you shutdown the game.
