I would highly recommend bigger brands, such as Western Digital or Maxtor, even if they are a bit expensive. Remember to avoid no-brand components at all costs. manroweb
id agree Dont sacrifice price over quality. Samsung are not a bad brand, but Western Digital, Maxtor are much better. Well worth paying the extra money for. I would also recommend staying clear of IBM too, as there have been a few threads here at neowin about IBM drives packing up and so on.... altezza Veteran Posted July 14, 2002 Veteran Share Posted July 14, 2002 Western Digital the best hard drive manufacturer atm. I've been using WD for couple of years and the drive still flawless and perfect :D
liar2
I've got a Samsung 40 gig 5400 RPM drive and it runs alright. Had it since around christmas (my pc was my present :D). It's pretty quiet and I have no complaints. The only thing I wish is that my 'rents would've let me pick out my own parts and upgrade what I wanted to when they bought it. But yeah, no complaints about samsung.
