"LONG BEACH, Calif. (CBS) A JetBlue airliner with a nose gear malfunction was preparing this afternoon to make an emergency landing at a Southland airport.

Flight 292 took off at 3:17 p.m. from Bob Hope Airport in Burbank, bound for John F. Kennedy International Airport in New York City with 145 passengers aboard.

The problem with the nose gear, which was down and locked but tilted about 90 degrees to the left, led air traffic controllers to direct the crew of the Airbus 320 to dump as much fuel as possible over the ocean before attempting a landing -- either at Long Beach or Los Angeles International airports. "

lets hope they make it down ok.

What are you smiling about? I'd much rather this event not even exist to be filmed than have all these lives at risk.

yeah, it looks like he wants to burn more fuel, so he is still circling just west of LAX, over the Catalina Islands in the pacific, just off the coast.
