Maligogo
Why is it that I had to manually edit the boot.ini file and only leave the default boot line after Vista was uninstalled? I did fixboot and fixmbr and that did nothing- still left the Longhorn/Vista reference.
bolerodan
did you try booting your windows XP disc into recovery Console, and then im pretty sure the command 'help' will show a lsit of commands you can do, and you should find somthing that says fixmbr or somthing that has MBR in it, i havnt done it in a while but i would know it if i saw it. -Bolero

bolerodan
im confused are you the same person as above using a different user name.. or are you just asking a question in here? the boot.ini i believe is located in the root of your drive.. which usually is C:\ (its hidden mind you)
Maligogo
I'm not brandon.mat. I did boot into the Recovery Console and did fixmbr and fixboot- the Vista bootloader still remained. I then had to manually edit the boot.ini file, which is located in C: once Hidden files and folders and system files are shown. I had to delete all references to Vista and a bootloader from the boot.ini to get XP to boot normally again.
Commodore Max
Just manually edit the boot.ini file. That should help ... I don't know about the boot loader files though ... You should leave them there unless you have a good idea of what you're doing !
Maligogo
Too late :p It seems everything is fine. Worst case scenario is that I have to reformat XP...again
