I was recently playin Quake 3, and i decided to try my resolution at 1600x1200..the fps sucked, so i changed back to 1024x768... my question is, could puttin the res that high damage my vid card? thx guys oh, and yes, i am a paranoid freak! ;)
azazel-
No, it'd be far more likely to damage your monitor.
mAcOdIn Veteran Posted July 14, 2002 Veteran Share Posted July 14, 2002 Nope, if your vid card supports the res your fine, you'll just get crappy performance if the card is too weak. Now if your monitor doesn't support a res or refresh rate, supposedly you can damage that but I've never seen it happen.
Keldyn
If you know your card and monitor can support that high a resolution than you should be fine. ANd yeah, i'm sure the fps did suck. You would need a machine of killer spec to play adequately at such a hi-res.
