benjeeeboy
Based on the article posted to slashdot, it sounds like much of vista was just starting to be written late last year. (http://online.wsj.com/article/0,,SB112743680328349448,00.html?mod=todays_us_page_one) If they can have that much progress in such a short time, I think much of what we expect are underexpectations. vcv
Why not, dont u think since OSX is a better os anyways and ppl know that dont u think if they release it to any x86pc that they will make MS look, dont u think they want MS to be put to shame. 586571953  Based on the article posted to slashdot, it sounds like much of vista was just starting to be written late last year. HoochieMamma
 586572865  * 2. 1. Switching user interface on the fly. Built-in MUI and users can switch to whatever language he/she wants. Is there going to be anything like this in Vista? I would LOVE this to be one of the new features. edit: After searching a little it seems to be correct ^^. http://winsupersite.com/showcase/winvista_editions.asp - Scroll down to bottom and look for MUI, it's only under the Enterprise/Ultimate edition :shifty: Edited September 24, 2005 by HoochieMamma

It's one thing to make an opinion about OS X vs Windows sound like a fact but when you do that in a rival forum it is a suicide note. I personally like Vista better than OS X, Linux, and anyother Windows. And before anyone says anything out of their ass I love OS X and I use it, but I still like Vista better. Dirty Diaper
What a freaking Joke! 3 home versions!?! Guess the MS stupidity has left the software environment and is affecting any thought processes MS might have. Guess I'll buy the Home basic edition. I don't need to shell out anymore money just to make windows look pretty. What a bunch of BS...

Mx
Project M is NOT, Max. Project M is a research project, which focuses heavily on explorer and how we use our PCs in a visual way. It may not become part of Vista as at the moment it is still only a research project.

Dirty Diaper
Can I ask this question?; what do you all feel about the DRM? (digital Rights management?) a consortium is trying to implement DRM into the Bios and/or Vista.
cropcircles
So anyway, getting back to the topic. I still haven't seen any verification on what depakote stated. The J Man
november this year I think. edit: just looked on google. its now out on 7th of December. depakote
So basically you're saying that Kam Vedbrat (lead program manager on the AERO team) http://channel9.msdn.com/Showpost.aspx?postid=114694 is saying bullsht?? Wow, you must be on crack (or worse, if such a thing is possible) 586568181 I wasn't being specific enough, I didn't mean aero was going to be thrown out before beta 2, I mean the aero design will be almost nearly complete by beta 2. Graphics, Coding, most of that good stuff is done now, now it's simply a matter of patching our work on it together. I'm sorry, I should of considered you all were thinking in terms of a Beta tester and not the run-of-the-mill consumer. Sorry about that! Regardless, I'm going fishing right now. Dotdot
Yeah mate, a way of fishing, dont u mean drinking? and would that be to prevent you from going on further to explain your work and what your currently meant to be implementing tweaking within the Vista Code Base? Or is it to allow you time to research the above? Sorry mate I dont normally like to point out BS but I think you may be peddling it.... :p

Project M is a research project, which focuses heavily on explorer and how we use our PCs in a visual way. It may not become part of Vista as at the moment it is still only a research project. 586572965 Max was developed by the Project M team, however. Project M itself isn't a product or even a technology. It's a research project looking into the future of UI. So anyway, getting back to the topic. I still haven't seen any verification on what depakote stated. I guess "depakote" has left the building or is taking his bipolor medication,.. eeeerrrr, I mean headache medication. I think it's highly unlikely that Depakote works for MS. Most or all of his information is blatantly wrong. Anyone working at MS should know better than this. Vista (beta 2 or otherwise) willnot> require 256MB of video memory.
Brandon Live Veteran Posted September 25, 2005 Veteran Share Posted September 25, 2005 Things you will see on the beta 2 release for sure:- New theme - New Effects fully implemented - Final explorer UI (Beta 2 is our UI freeze point) Please don't claim that anything in beta 2 will be "final." Things you might see by beta 2:- New (totally revamped) media player (AMAZING visual effects when compared to wmp9) - The first beta of Office - AOE III on shelves (sorry, I love that game) Things you won't see complete yet: - Movie Maker - Server features (server may be delayed, it looks like) - Microsoft's online music service How can server be delayed? There isn't even a date to delay it from yet. Also, we already have an online music service... http://music.msn.com - and I doubt you're aware of what's planned there either. Don't expect to run visuals on beta 2 with anything less than 256mb of video ram either.. Vista beta 2 will actually prevent you from doing this.I'll post some new scoop later.. 586567775 Not true in the slightest.

Don't even know why I've bothered to respond, it's already been proven you're no Microsoft employee or developer.
