Brandon Live Veteran Posted September 26, 2005 Veteran Share Posted September 26, 2005 Let's see.. I don't work with Microsoft PR, I don't speak to you on behalf of the Microsoft corporation. My identity as a person is anonymous for a reason. No one is going to be treated more special than anyone, an Admin here gets no more attention than a new forum poster. I've already got a pretty bad welcome, the way I'm being treated really proves why more people from my company don't hang around here, and also why this site is recognized by Microsoft as highly as WinSuperSite. The skepticism to the "predictions" is absolutely absurd -- Instead of asking me to elaborate, you critique my every move. I'de be more than happy to talk to you guys (neowin) about Vista, if you would only show a bit more optimism. I'de even say my word is probably more geniuine than something you'de get from the PR department. 586580893 I work at Microsoft, and I have no problem posting on Neowin just like I did for years before I worked here. I don't hide my identity, but I don't wave a big flag saying "Look at me! I work at Microsoft!" If you don't speak on behalf of the company (as you certainly shouldn't) - you shouldn't be posting claims about unreleased products, especially when they don't jive with what's been announced publicly. If you do work at my company, I want you to PM or e-mail me so I can find out where you're getting some of these ideas. Clearly... not everyone at Microsoft knows that they're talking about. Just look at the ridiculous comments Nigel Page made at TechEd to an APC reporter. I'm talking about the absurd list of hardware requirements he suggested, and this non-sense that "64-bits means you'll need more memory! Twice the bits means your data is twice as big!" Reading that almost made me cry.
Ramble
Why not, dont u think since OSX is a better os anyways and ppl know that dont u think if they release it to any x86pc that they will make MS look, dont u think they want MS to be put to shame. Do you expect someone to take you seriously with spelling like that? OS X is not a better OS, in fact, Vista is looking to be the best. Apple are also never going to let you go down to the shops and buy OS X, they make alot of money off their rip-off hardware to simply be a software company. depakote
Look my friend, if you're going to pretend to be from MicroHoff, then at least learn to write properly and not spel like a 15 year old. MicroHoff would not hire or have in their employment someone who had your writing ability. You'de?? i'de?? Mmmm...... 586580920 "Grammar is the obsession of the simple minded" ~ Mark Twain <sarcasm>I totally cheated on the mandatory spelling/punctuation test all microsoft employees get. If you did work at Microsoft, you would not in the first place have time to make near 2,500 post in the Neowin forums. Unless you are part of the anxillary staff that cleans out the Offices of actual Microsoft employees who either work on products, PR/Marketing, HR/Help & Support, then you would have time to be participating here. Aeonandromere
Witch Hunt! Witch Hunt! Mr. Dee I believe to the best of my knowledge Creamhackered works at Microsoft. And he has 10,468 posts. Considering the size of Microsoft, it's hard to just go out and say that nobody from their visits Neowin and posts. They choose however to keep their lives secret - because nobody ever wants to believe they work for Microsoft - because that seems impossible to grasp. It is far from impossible for threedaysdwn to work at Microsoft and have made close to 2,500 posts. However, for the original thread starter - he seems less likely to work at Microsoft than threedaysdwn. His claims are shady and maligned with generalisms. Witch Hunt! Witch Hunt! Accuse people of being employees of Microsoft or not! Go my puritanical friends and relive 1692!
Andy1369
Hey... um, I think you should leave Depakote alone... maybe he works at Microsoft, maybe he doesn't. I can see he's a very smart guy and he is trying hard to get his point across and you keep jumping on him. Believe me, I'm not trying to take any sides here, but I've been through hell and back so I know what he's going through. Everyone has different opinions and views on what will happen in Vista. Maybe some of what he said isn't completely accurate, but he has the right idea. Instead of jumping all over him and accusing him of lying, you could contribute some points of your own? And, it's not necessary to get all ****ed off because people care about the UI. I can understand where they're coming from, because it's important to work on a computer with a UI that you feel comfortable with--and Vista simply haven't reached that stage yet. But, hey, it's only a beta. To conclude this: Please show some respect for Depakote, too--it's not easy being jumped on from all sides. Remember that. And, for your information, his grammar is just fine. Believe me, I've seen worse. Respectfully, Andrew
berger
Well MS has said repeatedly that Beta 2 will be feature complete, so his first list does not seem unlikely..., the second list could be deduced by anyone based on common knowledge and list 3 is just confused (Beta 2 is client - not server, there is already a MS music service) Fine it's a list but I wouldn't call it 'scoop'. I'm an SDE/T on the Windows Desktop Search team. So what? I was on Neowin for years before I joined Microsoft. Why would I stop coming here? I'm still a computer enthusiast. Still a Windows enthusiast. Heck, I wouldn't have taken this job if I weren't. Believe it or not, many of us actually do have lives outside of the office. However, as I said in my previous post, I don't go around advertising the fact that I work here. When I'm on these forums my mindset is the same as before I took this job. Sure, I have to guard myself a bit and certainly be careful that I don't reveal any non-public information. But I think I'm pretty good at that, as a blogger I have to be. And I'm careful to make it clear that my posts are my personal opinions and nothing more. However, the starter of this thread claims to be a Microsoft employee. But unlike me, he's advertising it to everyone and sharing what he claims is inside information about Vista (including things that I believe to be untrue). So I have some issues with that. I don't want other Neowin readers to take his supposedly inside information as if it were official, or fact.

Right now I work on WDS for Windows 2000/XP/2003 (ie. the package that's currently distributed by MSN). Windows Vista also includes a future version of WDS, and the Vista shell makes heavy use of it. I don't work on that. Not directly anyway.

geedeepee
Brandon LeBlanc from LonghornBlogs.com has posted: Windows Vista Beta 2 is expected to be a broader release - giving many home users a chance to dip their feet into Vista. Until then, technical beta testers will be given monthly Community Technology Previews (CTP). The next CTP is expected to be released in the middle-to-late October. With Beta 2, expect to see some major User Interface changes. Some of these changes have accidentally been hinted at when Microsoft released an image of a new type of "Start" button earlier this month.
