Cheshire Cat
why the hell would we want them?? the americanised values are already becoming excessive here in britain, if we owned the usa it would be faster and a lot worse. in my opinion we also need to tell the EU to clear off, as european countries and other cultures through immigration are messing up true british culture and traditions and infecting us with theirs, then when we perform one of our traditions they moan that its unfriendly to them and ask for it to be changed or banned, I say if they don't like british ways, they should f*ck off back to where they came from and stay there! what we should do with america however is force them to use proper english instead of the mutilated version called "american english" they always force on me when i install software and the like. NCIvey
You can all say what you want about US but besides the current one and a FEW others, we have had many great leaders that have helped mold this planet into what it is today. The world's economy, technology and policies etc. can be attributed to US way of living. Complain all you want, but it if wasn't for US the world would still writing in books, and following the rules of some dictator "King" (or Queen) and follows his/her rules and laws the he/she can change as he/she sees fit. Hell, if it wasn't for us, you'd all be speaking German. Yes, this country has made some BIG mistakes (slavery, Vietnam, Iraq, Michael Jackson), in my opinion, it has done a lot more good. So imagine this... NO TV NO Computers NO radio NO automobiles NO airplanes NO telephone NO democracy
+Dick Montage Subscriber² Posted September 26, 2005 Subscriber² Share Posted September 26, 2005 Why would we want America back? What would be the point of this? We've grown so far apart that we are culturally very different. And the fact the Bush/Blair are in love is just an embarrasment to us! Sir Kill Jerk: America did not invent democracy America did not invent radio America did not invent telephones America did not invent television we have had many great leaders that have helped mold this planet into what it is today. The world's economy, technology and policies etc. can be attributed to US way of living. nd that's a good thing? Hell, if it wasn't for us, you'd all be speaking German Yes again America won the 2nd world war for us. You do know we were close to the end anyhow, and Americans wer just consdered cowboy tossers by most of the Allied forces?

|Rapture|
One more thing as well Im sick of the whole "We saved your ass..." crap. Not just because its untrue but also because it belittles the sacrifice made by every Englishman that died in that war. I find your uninformed views both ignorant and highly offensive. NO TV NO Computers NO radio NO automobiles NO airplanes NO telephone NO democracy 586581546[/snapback] Wow, you're quite an ignoramus, aren't you, Jerk? USA didn't invent the TV USA didn't invent the radio USA didn't invent automobiles USA didn't invent telephones Democracy? Heard of the Magna Carta (british)? The consitution was based on that. The US government leaves a lot to be desired. In fact, the parliament system is better due to the fact that they are all elected officials - not appointed. This doesn't breed nepotism like here in the states. Put it this way, it's never one person who designs something. Inspiration comes to all HUMANS (we're all human), some just take advantage. Then the invention is built upon by a team of humans. Anything and everything will be invented anywhere - it's just a matter of time frame. Back on topic now.. I'm british and I'm american, but I love my hometown London more than anything. I realize the good points in both countries, but I have to say I prefer London. Then again, I have a great disdain for Suburbs - which is all what the whole of USA is IMO. Majority of the people here have such a old-fashioned outlook - I guess I can't really explain it as it's something only exposed/well-travelled people will understand. I prefer to be around well exposed/cultured/classy people as in London. NO I wouldn't like USA to be given back. It was let go ;) Give any person too much land/freedom and they go nuts. USA is finally coming around but it's taken it's sweet time. lol RULE BRITAINIA! BRITAINIA RULES THE WAVES. Ambivalancer
Britain was the first to make a working jet engine plane, wich sort of is better than flying for 10 seconds in a Biplane :p . But anyway, it depends on how the whole economic structure was dictated, and whether americans could emigrate to Britain and vise versa as to whether I would really agree with something like this going ahead... Also, I do believe the printing press was invented in germany before America existed.
ollie_webbuk
Yeah, I also have a point to make about the WW2 situation... HITLER WOULD NEVER INVADE US! Few reasons: Firstly considered us to be Anglo-Saxon and hence of the same blood as himself. Secondly we had so, so, so many chemicals on our shores you would not believe, we also had the plans to set fire to the sea if they tried to cross and invade. They could never do it by plane 'cos they wouldn't be able to drop the numbers they needed. Thirdly, you joined late 'cos you were pally with the 'ole Nazis. Fourthy, HMM, I WONDER WHERE ALL THE NAZI SCIENTISTS WENT AFTER THE SECOND WORLD WAR? Oh, that's right, AMERICA! Also, the UFO space dish thingy is a Nazi creation. About covers that one. Oh and I'd also like to point out that's English people are speaking now, part of our 18th and 19th Century world tour of the pwnage of the world.
