Well, I'm uber excited. I love the Holiday Season, and I'm looking forward for it this year, because all of my family is getting along. Been forever since we all did. I'm ready to go up north, and see snow.

What about you?

Sorry, I'm from England. I don't get the 'Holiday Season' crap. It's CHRISTMAS FFS!

Its because americans want to be politically correct and take into account other religeons. Also, its because Christmas has become so comercialised that they decided to just call it the holiday season.

Anyway, I'm not really looking forward to Christmas, its not usually an exciting time for me.

You don't think of the holiday season as time to spend with your family, and to celebrate whatever religion you are? You think of it as getting out of school? Thats bad .

I don't think it's bad at all. My family has never been the "holiday" kind, we don't particuarly care about holidays. Winter break is the only 2-week break I get during my entire school year anyway, so I'm loving that aspect.

Well seeing as the Christmas period was a time to eat drink and be merry ; because it was a time to use up the last of your perishable food aswell as a time of great hardship (cold and limited daylight) so a good time to party; and nothing to do with religion, I don't see any problem with people looking forward to it for whatever reason.

It's nice to have Christmas but it's true meaning has been lost amongst religion and capitalism.

/Me runs out of the door away from any flaming ;)

Not really. I personally find it all rather depressing, last year being the worst Christmas of my life. Also, I don't have the energy to feign excitement for three months over one day.

Yeah it's cool that one day is set aside to spend with your family and actually make an effort etc but I think too many people do it out of duty - "it's Christmas, so I'll have to put up with so and so even though I want to put their head in a blender".

When people really want to spend time together, they do not need the excuse of Christmas.

This is an example of one problem I have with Christmas. The fact that so many people insist you have to be happy and you have to enjoy spending time with your family. It's so false.

Also, Christmas, I was taught, is a Christian celebration of the birth of Jesus. So what would non-Christians be celebrating exactly? Nothing. They will just be enjoying the time off, getting out of school perhaps?

At least I have a job this year thanks to George W. Bush and his dip stick antics in Iraq (just to mention 1 place). Don't know whether it's fortunate or unfortunate though as my job is building cylinder blocks for Army tanks. Our orders are going to increase from 30 transmissions (my dept) a month, to 50 by December. By mid 2006, they're supposed to increase to 90! If we weren't over there getting them blown up or just broke down, I might not have a job again this year. I guess I owe that moron Bush an unfortunate thank you.
