O/C HP System w/ Celeron 500mhz?

Recommended Posts

I have just gotten back my old Celeron 500mhz system. My bro was using it for college. Since I have no major need for it, I thought I'd try to O/C it. I've never tried to O/C anything. So, any tips would be great. The system is an HP w/ a Celeron 500mhz. I have heard that Celerons are pretty easy to O/C. Any tips, recommendations would be great. Also, this system only has PCI slots, no AGP. Can anyone suggest a good PCI GFX card. Thanks!

Really? Well that just bites! Reminds me though, once again, why I build my own machines now! Maybe I'll just trash the HP mobo and case and start fresh with a new mobo. Thanks for the reply!

i really wouldnt waste the money on getting that a new motherboard just to overclock. if you also got a new cpu and ram then it would be worth it but in my opinion thats the only way that its really justified in getting that new parts.

You also asked about a good video card for it, I'd suggest going with a PCI version of the GeForce 4 MX420, and make sure it has DDR Ram. This is the best PCI card you can get on the market today.

I had no idea they made a PCI version of the GeForce4MX...I knew of the Radeon 7000. Anyway, I'll look into it. As for the O/C idea, I think I'll scrap that and leave it as is. I'll seriously consider the vid card though as an upgrade.

Well, I already build my own systems. I learned from my first mistake of buying this HP system. The only reason I'm asking these questions is, I just want to try to upgrade this HP a little bit. O/C is out of the question. So, if I can add PCI gfx card, then it may be able to handle a few more things. Of course, I don't want to spend a whole lot on the gfx card, so I may just go w/ the Radeon7000 PCI w/ 64MB. Oh well, we'll see. Oh, and I'll be building a new system again. First, I just have to start my new job! :)
