cyclingplatypus
Sounds simple, but have you right clicked and clicked remove from dock?
robniep
It's obviously open... that's odd. See if something else is running in activity monitor?

GoogleNinja
I'm not sure how it got there, but somewhere, there is a file with the Dock's preferences. Trashing this will cause you to lose your current Dock settings, but it should get rid of the icon. Try searching for Dock plist.

.Neo
The way I see it you've got 5 options right now: 1) Try making a new account, if that one doesn't have the "Dock-issue" copy all your files over to the new account and delete your old one; 2) Ask someone to send you the Dock.app file and replace it with your current one, it might fix the problem; 3) Format your system; 4) Look the other way and pretend it isn't there; 5) Wait for someone to come up with a working solution if the above don't work or whatever.
