et1
I've read through most of the threads on the forum and have found them quite useful. To explain a little, I am using a Nvidia Geforce 6600gt which is running the drivers supplied with Vista in build 5219. First can someone please verify that the driver pack for nvidia is driver verion 77.52. I am getting full affects with the registry edit previously posted in this forum, but I am having problems with this driver as opposed to the beta driver provided by nvidia. First when trying to run any program with direct 3d it gives an error about being unable to initialize Direct 3d Device. Another interesting aspect is that in dxdiag it reports the video as having no or very little memory. Can anyone else confirm these problems with the drivers provided in the Vista Supplemental Drivers? Thanks everyone. EDIT: Switching back to the Nvidia beta LDDM drivers I notice that dxdiag still reports the video card as having little or no memory. But with the beta I am able to run direct3d applications, such as Vista's game collection. Edited September 27, 2005 by et1

Sound.Phucker
If anyone can help....I'm running Vista on an NVIDIA GeForce FX 5200. I can't get my windows transperent. I've updated with the latest drivers for XP from Nvidia which helped with the chopiness, but I still cant get DWM or Glass to work. Also, in my Nvidia properties it says its running the video card on DirectX 8.1. Edited September 29, 2005 by Sound.Phucker

Sound.Phucker
i tried running the vista drivers but once i ran the setup it told me "There are currently no drivers for your hardware" or something to that effect.
umneycreep
well since u ran the setup there should be an nvidia folder on the vista drive..even tho it aborted. so just go to ur system device manager and go to ur videocard and update driver and point to that nvidia folder... and it should update to the 75.03 drivers... i have the fx5200 and it worked for me... :: Lyon ::
If you are using the latest, the glass effects, transparency, etc won't get displayed. That's why I was still using the old beta that supported it :( I mean, why would you want to use Vista at current stage if it's not because of its transparency/glass effects? Well, of course, besides being a good beta tester

Where as the Nvidia beta LDDM drivers do. Granted the only Vista application that is stable enough yet to run that needs Direct3d is there supplied games, I enjoy my chess :D . And personally I have no problems with the LDDM, whenever there is a slight graphics problem or sluggishness just make a batch file to restart the uxss process. Sound.Phucker
can anyone tell me why i can only view my screen at 640x480 with DWM on? My video card settings display 2 monitors when i only have one. If I adjust the resolution I can only see a portion of the desktop, as if it should be displayed across 4 monitors. PLEASE HELP! Eli
I also have a question to this issue. I finally decided to install the DRM drivers to see if they would work. I have an Nvidia Geforce FX Go5200. Now with Windows XP, I updated my drivers using the regular 5200 drivers and everything worked. On Vista, I pointed my drivers to the Vista 5200 ones and I get some ugly things happening. First off, the glass works. And it works nice. But my screen is really messed up. It's fuzzy and looks like it's siezuring a little. Also, the left side of my screen extendeds past the lest side of my monitor, and over to the right side. This covers up my start button. Anyone have any fixes for the Go5200?
