jessyjk
I have a nvidia geforce-II MX400, running Windows XP.. and after a while, usually a couple of days, it stops working, with the error code (10) in device manager... i try installing, re-installing the drivers, all different ones from windows default through to 3030... and still has the same error.. the only way seem to be to re-format to fix the problem. I dont change anything, or install anything new from what i have been using since i first started using winXP almost a year ago. but the problem has started in the past 2 months... Any help would be greatly appreciated Thanx in Advance Jessy
Crash
Just curious, are you the only user on the pc? It kinda seems like maybe permissions are getting changed when you log off or someone else logs in... Do you get a specific error besides error 10?:ermm:
jessyjk
Yeah, I'm the only user.. as an administrotor.. but the problem happens during noot up, before i log in.. i can tell because i get a slow blue screen (not the bsod) come up just before the logon screen appears in vga safe mode, and the res is at 60 instead of 100... and that is the only error code i get in the device man, error code 10. Crash
What brand (manufacturer) made your card? We know its NVidia, but what was the brand on the box... I suspect the problem actually lies within a MB bios update and possibly the graphic card may have a bios update. On some MB you can adjust how it manages VGA. Check in your motherboard's BIOS for the option "Assign IRQ to VGA" and make sure it is enabled... Also you will want to make sure your settings for AGP aperature size is correct, if its an AGP card. Just some thoughts...;)
jessyjk
Well first off it a sparkle card.. the bios on the MB is fully up-to-date.. P11 from intell site, motherboard D845WN. But the bios on the AGP card is not updateable.. i have tryed to update it, and it come back with 'unknown eprom type' man,dev id (55,AA) so, thats no go :( In the MB bios.. the only setting for the AGPVideo is Apture size, set at 256mb, and AGP or PCI..set to AGP.. but i have tryed changing the Apture size to all different setting, and it dont help. Dont know if this info helps.. but thanx for helping me out. :)

Crash
Sparkle..? hmmmm not familiar with that.. is this a Chaintech or a Gainward card? Have you considered thermal issues? Example,... fan quits working, card gets too hot. Then maybe it fails in the slot causing XP to puke it out? Whats your model number, chipset and bios version on the video card?:alien:
