haha, you got kicked out because of that? that sucks. but i agree, it should have been 4.5.

the only thing AOL needs to really work on for "visual" perspective is the "looking at other users away messages" it's really F'ed up.

hahaha, yeap. well, I dont care anymore, I think AOL is doing a good job. The proce sucks ass, and some other things still suck ass about them, but other than that, it's taken them 8 versions to make a client work correctly!

P.S. My jet ski is really f'ed now! It doesnt even start, just clicks.

im in the beta team tho, but i never bothered to actually download the software and test it out. i hate beta software

i get about an email every other day saying how the update for AOL 8 beta is out

here is one of them, kinda gets annoying after a while

Greetings Beta Testers!

A new version of the AOL 8.0 software - build 4129.30 - is now available for

download at Keyword: Beta. Please see the "What's New/What to Test" area to

learn about some of the new features in this build. This version also

includes several bug fixes, which are outlined in the Fixed Issues area. If

you have not already upgraded be sure to do so soon; all older builds will be

blocked in the upcoming week.

Be sure to make use of our Beta Assistance chatroom as well as our Beta

Message Boards to chat about Beta issues and bugs that you might find along

the way. We greatly appreciate your contributions while Beta testing - your

efforts will make everyone's online experience even better. We definitely

appreciate all that you do!

Thanks again,

--- The Windows Beta Team

*** If you wish to be removed from this LISTSERV and the BETA Program,

please go to Keyword: BETA REMOVE. Thank You!

but if you say its great ill have to give it a shot

i got tossed from AOL Beta for telling another beta member to keep there mouth shut and stick to the NDA.

and another time for trying to stop a silly fight in the BETA Chat room. lol

:dead:

i actually was kicked 2ce, i can thank my lucky starts i was cool with the beta team leader they had.. he later moved on, to a better postition at aol, and they brought in some chick, after that, i got tossed again, since then i've been pretty f'ed.

anyway, can anyone host the latest release of the 8.0 Beta Software? the first leak is now being Blocked.

I have a few friends on the beta, so they have been keeping me apprised wether I want to or not. :p

It appears to me that by and large thus far, this upcoming release is largely cosmetic. Nothing really new is being brought to the table. That is not a bad thing per se...but has AOL introduced anything of note in the last two iterations of their software/service?

They've been pretty much staying the course as far as I can tell..and with news that they are looking for a new CEO for the AOL unit is fairly telling. The merger b/t AOL & Time Warner is going through some hefty growing pains...and it looks like AOL's focus has been seriously hampered.

FWIW...the boys @ MSN truly believe they have a better product in all than AOL in round 8. MSN is continuing their web-based services focus, expanding the role of software to enhance & extend their services, beating AOL to the rollout punch of broadband connectivity, and synchronizing this fall's release in multiple countries worldwide.

Microsoft is spending $500 million this year on MSN for R&D alone...AOL's stock has tanked, and their focus seems lacking...in my humble, but biased opinion, AOL is vulnerable...

I agree, AOL is vulnerable, but they're trying really hard to please nwecomers. If you're an old member this interface may be a little too ...hm...colorish?

AOL Companion is pretty neat though lol

They're trying to do the same thing to the AOL Instant messaging system as they are to AIM with the themes and stuff so I guess that is sort of new.

p.s. AOL SUCKS!!!

How can a bug report be OVERLY critical? Itsn' t that the ENTIRE point of beta? To find problems that the normal dev team doesn't?

I've been a beta tester since version 2.5. I give my bug reports and they usually are not addressed. My latest bug report is that when downloading on broadband overnight of large files.. AOL 8.0 consumes 900mb of RAM!!! However, This bug report will probably be overlooked.
