AOL 8.0, newest best...WOW...

Question

I know this is bad to say....but the newest BETA to the AOL 8.0 client...is really getting better. I hate AOL, but the new options, look, program stabiltiy, I have to give two thumbs up!

Good job AOL.

I really think AOL is gonna own this time. It's prolly still a long way away from 8.0 becoming final. I'll say it again, two thumbs up, and not bad AOL. And I can't wait to see AOL Companion work 100%.

:dead:

cause some people like to post replies for nothing. Like threads made that say this:

"does anyone know anything about jet skii's that can possibly help me out?"

then you get the dip **** who replies:

"nope"

WHY EVEN BOTHER REPLYING???

56gay lmao :D

be warned AOL blocks beta rather quickly, unless you auntie has a constant availibilty to the newest beta, she'll be pooched.

if she cannot accomplish this task, stick with 7.0; 8.0 will be out before the end of the summer.

Got a question for people with or without AOL. One of my friend's cousin has I think a Compaq Presario 5410 or was it 5140 PII400Mhz machine. She was running AOL 6.0 fine but when she upgraded to AOL 7.0, the only thing that worked was things within AOL like e-mail. Neither the browser nor anything else works. The Networking stack is completely messed up. It's running Win98 and I tried to delete the tcptrans and removing the network card in windows as well as deleting the Dial-Up adapter and uninstall AOL but what seems to happen even then when the machine was taken to my friends static DSL connection

is that while the connection can ping and traceroute to the destination, anything else would seem to have problems like as if the packet hit a firewall or something. There is no firewall software on the machine. I tried updating to Win98SE but it still had the same problem. Anyone have any ideas how to fix this since she doesn't want to lose her data so a clean install or using the recovery CD isn't a option except a last resort.

ive got aol8.0 on my moms computer-- i too am a beta tester and download it's updates so she can have the newest features-- she isnt the best on computers so she kind of likes aol-- as for me-- i use aol stickly for my email-- on my computer with win2k, ive got this awesome version of aol5.0 i picked up, the setup is a little over 5MB and *doesnt* install extra crap like browser/aim/winamp/compuserve/net2phone/realplayer and so forth but yea, some features of aol are getting nicer, i wish they would add aim and aol into one on the aol client, so you can d/c and file send thru instant messages on aol, make sense?

start > all programs > startup > aol companion

i move it out of that dir and put it in the america online one since i really dont want a ton of stuff loading at startup.

lemme know how it goes. (you may have to have flash installed)

[edit]You should really know better than to post something like that in these forums. Neowin is a large community that has members ranging from 13 years old and up, including parents, religious peeps and all sorts that would be very offended by your post. Of course your entitled to your opinion, and regardless if I share it or not I still have to remove your post. I really don't think you need a warning on your account, just follow the rules a little better in the future, ok?

Probably true ... as it was said earlier that most changes were cosmetic :ermm:
