AOL 8.0, newest best...WOW...

Question

I know this is bad to say....but the newest BETA to the AOL 8.0 client...is really getting better. I hate AOL, but the new options, look, program stabiltiy, I have to give two thumbs up!

Good job AOL.

I remember when I got my own first computer.....aol came free for 50 hours....wow....and I got my hands on a dude who did beta testing for aol, and I was downloading aol 4.0 and I had the final about 2 weeks before anyone else did on aol in my area. then as that first year of discovery came and gone 1 rule of thumb stood out. AOL SUCKS. yep they jerked me around I bet if I kept calling back I could get free months forever. but they sucked, the service was slow, and it was stoping me or booting me from downloading via ftp.

ah thouse were the years.

msn 8, ooooooh. you pay half of what aol can offer and only get half of what aol can offer.

i still think its funny that msn was all, "we cost less than aol" but 2 weeks after aol raised our prices, msn did also.

the biggest competitor to aol is msn and they still only hold less than 10% of the market share.

msn blows donkey . PERIOD.

Can you describe what AOL offers that MSN does not? In terms of subscribers, MSN is roughly a third the size of AOL in the United States. MSN still costs less per month than AOL.

MSN 8 is still better then AOL's 8.0 in my opinion, it has many more features then AOL. AOL is much more clogged with spam then good content. MSN is more useful Everyday. I think MSN is the future in internet. So, :).

I hear it's good, but check out www.dslreports.com for the people around your area's reviews.

Check out DSLreports.com for more. Keep in mind about MSN that a majority of them had migrated from Qwest...a process that didn't go smoothly. In addition, in October MSN launches brand new hardware & IntelliSpeed software to monitor & optimize your connection. Until then, MSN Broadband is just okay.

If you go with Verizon, you'll also get a customized version of MSN 8. (late this year/early next year)

Doesn't look like the AOL Companion changed much in the latest beta. What do you guys think of that application? Annoying or a godsend?

I've seen it, and used it, it can be okay. But I've never used Dashboard so it's hard to compare. :(

i dont think that it will change much more other than speed tweaks and bugfixes.

make sure you all log them bugs. this is gonna be the best aol client ever.

Well I cannot agree with this. AOL has some internal things that it need's to fix, such as speed for 56k users, and optimization. AOL still has a few more things to do. AOL also needs to openly admit it's troubles.
