MSN 8 Beta...

Question

Saw over at microsoft, they have released a date for a limited beta of MSN 8.

"A limited beta of MSN 8 will be released this week. The final version of MSN 8 will be available in the United States and Canada later this year and in other parts of the world in the following months."

They also have a feature set for MSN Exploer 8 posted at...

http://www.microsoft.com/presspass/newsroo...eaturesheet.asp

I dont like the word... "subscription" as in, "will be available as a separate subscription to consumers who use other ISPs."

The new explorer, doesn't have any Universal canvas, or other such futuristic features. What is new though is customization, not as in skins, but rather content on the dashboard.

There is also a whack of goodies for parents who are too busy to care what there kids are doing on line. Microsoft now has a .net babysitting feature :p

I've never used this MSN thing, didn't see the advantage to using it. Hopefully this will mean that an official release of MSN Messenger isn't too far away. Am i missing something because i've glanced through that page and can't see anywhere where they mention about the release dates, or am i just blind?

Yep, both the MSN 8 beta press release and the feature list have been taken down - despite links to them here.

I think folks who already have msn explorer 7 will be asked if they want to try out the new beta 8 when it arrives. Whether this will be by email or the update page settings in msn explorer I don't know.
