icon123
Hey guys. This one keeps stumping me and making me upset. I would like to test out Vista more, but without getting the right resoution on this 15.4" display, I can't. I have an ATI 9600 mobility card. The glass efects work but the only options I have for resolution is 800x600 and 1024x768. I need 1280x800 which is a standard resolution for 15.4" laptop monitors. It doesn't look very good otherwise. I have tried Beta 1 and 5219, 32 and 64 bit, windows and ati drivers. Same thing regardless. The only other thing I can think of is the monitor driver it is using is just a generic PNP monitor. When I look to switch it, the only other compatible driver that comes up is a flat panel PNP but maxes out at 800x600. When I search for generic monitor drivers, there is no selection for a 1280x800 flat panel driver. Almost every other resolution is listed but not that. Any suggestions? Thanks, icon123 Edited October 9, 2005 by icon123
Keldyn
Which version of the catalyst drivers are you using? This issue has manifested itself in the 5.8 and 5.9's. I was able to get around this by downgrading to the 5.7's.

icon123
Thanks for the suggestion. I saw that too, not too long ago. I tried it and it didn't work. Bummer. I thought for sure it would. Has anyone else with this size laptop monitor have the same problem? I am starting to think its just me. I have an emachines m6807. Thanks again, icon123
Commodore Max
Vista Beta 1 and Pre-Beta 2 drivers are very "alpha"-like, and unstable ... Good luck man !
stadsport
When I tried it on my laptop (ATI Mobility Radeon 9700, LCD's native resolution is 1400x1050), the default Vista drivers worked. But I ended up installing the drivers from ATI's site. Download it and make the EXE run with Windows XP compatability (like you can with XP).
