wicker_man
Apparently you guys are ... well ... idiots. And I second and third that. Your comments reflect the utterly degraded state of mind you are all in, having no idea what metal is all about. Go on, flame me in return and threaten to scratch my car - I don't give a damn. Metal wouldn't be as it is without Maiden. Practically every more or less famous metal band always cites Maiden as one of the major influence on the music of theirs. After all, the guys have been around since 1976. Especially for you I would emphasize that the band will have a 30-year anniversary soon, in case you can't add numbers. This does mean that they have been playing chords for more years than you punks have existed, and still have one of the largest fan bases in the world. So you can go and kiss Sharon's sorry a** and listen to the crap you listen now because seriously, you guys don't know sh** about metal. UP THE IRONS! Buttus
Iron Maiden is great, but there's many different types of metal... so they arn't "the greatest"... and who's Sharon?
wicker_man
I didn't say they are "the greatest", please re-read my post. I simply stated the fact that there are a lot of people who like to b**** because they think their point of view is universal (a.k.a. comment #2). It is a mental condition, therefore I leave it aside. Also, I said that Maiden has influenced virtually every major metal band that is popular right now, so you just can't overlook that fact. UP THE IRONS! 586655875[/snapback] I could not agree with you more. You can't compare metal bands especially from different era's of the genre. I know I'm going to get flamed for this but metal now a days, well I can barely stand it. Bands like Iron Maiden in the 70's had to compete with the formation of Punk, and the fact that they are still around after that is a testimate to how good they actually are. Especially almost 30 years later. and yes I will say it too.....UP THE IRONS!!! Edited October 11, 2005 by Scizzot
mikebiacsi
I would have to say Maiden. They are one of those bands who have been around for ages. I saw them live at this years reading festival and they were amazing. They only played songs from their first 4 albums so they didn't play as many 'hits' as they could have, but it was still an incredible experience. I can only imagine what it must have been like to be at Rock in Rio when they played.

ev0|
I think metal is pretty immature music. I mean, I listened to it when I was younger, but as you get older and you mature yourself, your interest in songs about the number of the beast, albums about seventh sons, and other related "story" ideas with hard guitars and plodding drums wanes. At least, I think that it should. After all there is a lot of other good music out there that doesn't require such childishness anyway.
Apollo
Maiden is the ruler of them all! I like a lot of bands including Dream Theater, Machine Head, Opeth, Metallica, etc but Maiden is just classic, in your face, kick your ass metal that prevails through all the ****ty bands out there! Bamsebjørn
Iron Maiden isn't bad. I like them. I wouldn't listen to any other metal band pers?... I once saw AFI and it hurt my ears. I can name you a dozen (and then I'm just starting) metal bands who make way better metal music than Iron Maiden, but Iron Maiden is a legend because of their long line of service. Got nothing against them...:))

Deaf Spacker
There are many different genres relating to Metal so you can't really compare Maiden to like Children of Bodom. As far as Maiden go though, in my view they are one of the best bands to emerge from the UK if not in the world.

oblomov
"You saw a bad performance? So what...?
