4 minutes, sysprep + ghost are a beautiful combination

That's not what he's asking. The question is how long it takes to install when you first place the XP cd into your drive.

And to be fair, I think only times for a full install should be polled...not un-attended installations, or modified installations.

From having nothing on hard drive to being able to browse web use messenger etc. takes 20mins.

I always laugh at the way when you start it says estimated time: 90 minutes, and it counts down in 5 minute steps :p

And I'm only on an athlon XP 2200, 512 of RAM, and a horrid IDE hard drive which I don't think has any cache, 2mb at most.

I love Ghost also.

Havent done a full reisnatll in ages. But usually 35mins for windows.

Then another few hours configuring programs, installing other stuff.

Ghost is my saviour. 25min from DVD Image, once booted, update a couple hotfixes maybe and updates for progs and im done.

Mine takes around 15-18mins to install my slipstreamed version with sp2, thats isnt modified with nlite. With my stripped edition of XP it takes 8mins to complete.

  • 2 weeks later...

XP Lite custom install will take no time at all.

And it depends on types of devices (IDE/SCSI/SATA)

Different mobos

Different gfx cards

etc...

why have you bumped an old thread

ya I hate people that moan and groan about people bumping old threads, they have all the threads saved for a reason and if they want to make a comment to an old one let em.
