AIM 5 beta problem

Question

Im not sure if this is the right place for my thread but if its not im sure a moderator will move it and it will be something to keep them busy. My problem is that im using AIM 5 beta that was featured here on neowin a few weeks ago. The problem is that it swallows up 18mb of RAM even when its idle and as i only have 256Mb RAM i don't like that so i use msconfig to stop it from running on startup so it saves me the hassle of closing it down completely everytime i bootup my pc. But everytime i then run AIM it re-enables itself in msconfig to startup during bootup!!!!! How cheeky is that i ask u????? Obviously im very unimpressed at this underhand tactics of AOL to force its software to always load up, does anyone know how i can stop it without going into msconfig after everytime i use it?

well did you even check the AIM preferences? HEHE... the program will write whatever is in it's settings back to the registry when you close it. Anyways, click My AIM - edit options - edit preferences (or just press F3) go to Sign-On/Off and uncheck "Start AIM when Windows Starts" ... simple as that. 18MB tho? I got 256MB of ram and mine only using 10MB oh well.

Oh onething.. that memory leak issue with AIM is GONE!! So see it was AOL's problem and not Windows XP. For all who don't know if you leave AIM running for days which i normally do it takes up huge amounts of memory. Sometimes as much as 100MB. When i close AIM you can feel the huge change but running it again just causes it to go up there after couple days. OH well.. good it's fixed!!
