I will be moving to a new house on OCT 21st, and i managed to get DVR-942 from DishNetwork for free, to replace my DVR-511.

DVR-942 is a dual tuner (one HDTV, one SD) with build in 250hd DVR.

plus it comes with 2 2.0 usb plugs, one in back, one in front.

i was wondering what is the best way to transfer recording programming to pc? i would preffer to do it digitally, thru usb if possible. any one know how?

thanks

Google?

Most providers have the ports disabled on the STB's that can interface with a computer. Sometimes you can get lucky like some people have with the Motorola 6412 that Comcast offers. I wasn't able to get mine to work, most likely due to different firmware revisions than the STB's that others were using.

i know that these ports should be working, because dish network will be releasing portable 4-7inch video players, that you connect to the DVR-942 and transfer the files to it.

i just wish it would work the same with a pc
