Gf4 4600 ti Questions

Recommended Posts

Well guys I just ordered myself a Geforce 4 4600 ti (special Edition) LINK made by Chaintech and I have a few questions since I have never had this type of raw video card power before,

First off what should I be using to benchmark this bad boy? I?ve never bothered to bench my video card before because I have always known how s|-|itty it was with frame rates and such

Second Which Drivers are the best drivers to download? Since I am currently using a matrox g450 I have no idea where to start with NVIDIA drivers

My third question is how many of you out there have gf4 4600 ti cards and what?s your experience with them? Is there anything I should be aware of? Tips, tricks, etc.

Thanks in advance

1. 3dmark 2001 SE build 330 or PC Mark 2002

http://www.madonion.com

2. (Raw) Detonator , www.nvidia.com

3. don't have one, but they're definately the most powerful.. out now.

there's noone that can tell you which drivers to get because they all work but everyone has problems with some of them and rather another version. It depends on the system you have and all. Get the 30.30s tho :)

As for benchmarks. 3DMark2001 SE (build 330) @ www.madonion.com is the ultimate benchmark. They have thousands or systems to compare yours to or even here on neowin.

https://www.neowin.net/bboard/showthread.ph...mark2001+scores

is just one of the many on here.

No tips and tricks really but if you want to overclock your card there are many programs out there that will work so just search on neowin or google for rivatuner or something like that.

Well I just bought a ti 4200 and I know what it's like upgrading from a cheap gfx and boy was I shocked at how much better it was than what I had (my old card didn't even have hardware acceleration.) Everything runs nice and smooth with high framr rates. :) As for the drivers to use download the latest Detonater drivers (29.xx) or if you want you can search around for the beta Detonater drivers (30.30 is the latest I think.) It's all up to your personal preference but the latest stable ones work fine for me. btw, enjoy your new card :)

cheers

does that overclocking reg key work with the GF4s? I installed it when i had mine and it never showed up (i don't think.. maybe i'm wrong... TIRED!! LOL) but that's why i didn't suggest it. It should work tho but i can't remember....

grrr... must have food! STARVING and TIRED!~

no, u will not have a bottleneck with that system. it will run very smooth. and since we are talking about gf4's i have a gf4 ti4400 o/c clocks @ 300/660 and i get scores of 10000+ easy using the new 30.30 detonators running 1024*768 so i wouldn't worry about raw power since yours is even more powerful in my in bandwidth for the ram and the pipeline. have fun with the card, as i know you will :)

wow, a link to a thread i started. no doubt that 3dmark2001 is probably the best benchmarking tool. as for drivers, it's really your own preference. it's nice to stay up to date, but some of the older ones occasionally work better. i don't own a ti4600 but i'm soon going to purchase a ti4200 128 MB card because my g42 mx isn't handling the games of today very well anymore....

3D Mark 2001 and 2000 then u can tri out and see wat ur FPS is on games which is usually good to kno

try Max Payne...thats usually a good tester coz of its high graphix..and try ur FPS on Quake 3...thats usualy the default tester

I've got one, and pull off 10000+ 3DMarks no problem :]

good investment, altho the R300 seems intresting :)

Altho I still think nVidia still have a Rabbit in a Hat that'll be pulled out some time soon, and if you did have a pants g/card b4, the Ti4600 will knock ur socks off d00d :) it owns

There are no real tips or anything, unless u wanna start jerking about with AA etc, as for drivers, a good way of finding out, is again 3DMark, keep running the game demo's with diff versions of the drivers to see what scores you can produce and see if your machines stable, if they're performing well :) ur on to a winner.

= you shouldve waited a few months, and waited for the nv30, and then have got a GF4 for a cheap price.. or just get an nv30.. or go to ocsystem.com and buy a ti4200 that outperforms a ti4600.. oh well =

i have a aopen geforceTi4200 128 megz, got it yesterday :) i run it on a AMD 1.2 ghz with 512. i got about 6600 3dmarks not overclocked (latest nVIDIA), but managed to clock it up to 7000 using coolbits. i dont have any extra cooling or anything, how much is it safe to clock it? *nervous* ;)
