Boot up problems

Recommended Posts

Hey guys I have an AMD K6-2 500 on an ECS motherboard..its slow and old but it gets the job done for what I use it for. Well, now when I turn it on, the power light comes on, and the HD light comes and and stays on but I get no BIOS screen, no screen whatsoever. I tried swapping video cards and still the same. If anyone has any ideas id grealtly appreciate it because I am stumped!

Well if the computer posts and everything sounds like it is booting up fine then it could possibly be the video card, but if it doesnt post then you could be looking at a bad motherboard or processor.

Or it could be the battery on the mobo.

I had this EXACT problem when i installed a new motherboard, and in the end i just had to send it back after trying everything and got a new one, so i'd definately say it sounds like u have a dead motherboard :dead:

try to shift the ram from its original slot(s) to another slot(s) and press them firmly....

check the video card, see wheather it is fixed firmly on its slot?

Either you're motherboard is bad, you're video card is bad, you're processor is bad/ needs to be reseated, your cmos reset jumper isn't on correctly, or last.. Very weird, but unplug your reset switch, as I have also had a problem with it "getting stuck" and therefor nothing shows up on the screen and the hard drive light stays on.
