Internet Explorer

Question

Is it possible to download a standalone installer for IE6? A friend of a friend needs a copy of the browser, but they don't have access to the Internet. They live in India, so my friend will be sending a cd to them via mail. The only problem is that I need to find the standalone installer to put on the CD? Anybody know any solution?

Don't know if this may help, but I have win2k and I downloaded IE6. It creates a folder called Windows Update in C:WINNT with all IE's install files, so I burnt the folder to a disc and whenever I format, I place that folder back in C:Winnt and run setup (I usually do this offline) and it installs perfectly.:)

To download IE6 components and install them later create a shortcut to ie6setup.exe.

Right click the shortcut you've just created and select properties.

Edit the target box to read:

/c:"ie6wzd.exe /d /s:""#E"

example:

C:ie6setupie6setup.exe /c:"ie6wzd.exe /d /s:""#E"

You now get the option to ONLYdownload the components rather than initiate an active install over the net.

Just run the ie6setup.exe from this folder at a later date when you want to install.
