Brandon Live Veteran Posted October 13, 2005 Veteran Share Posted October 13, 2005 Cool. I haven't looked a lot at XP's Desktop Search from a developer's point. Guess it's all about IFilters then? 586662256[/snapback] I was referring to Windows Desktop Search, which is an add-on component for Windows 2000/XP/2003, currently distributed with the MSN Search Toolbar at http://desktop.msn.com Our API is currently considered "beta" (partly because of Vista) and some functionality isn't quite there yet. But there are a lot of ways to extend it. They basically fall into two categories: 1) Extending what can be indexed (IFilter, protocol handler, etc) 2) Querying the indexer and/or displaying results. 905punk
The sidebar i have is actually ripped from Build winmain_idx02.050824-2010 - But it works on 5219 and i havent tested it on 5231 - Those builds dont come with the sidebar thou. I've also gotten the 'little box' above the start menu in 5231 - Tis quite annoying. (You can see it in some of the screenshots i posted in the 'Windows Vista Build 5231 Screenshots' thread)
