S-Video/Gfx Cards with tv out

Recommended Posts

hey guys, just got a quick question...my geforce 2 mx 400 has tv out, and i want to put my 20" sony trinitron as my monitor...the connection in the back of my computer is s-video, but my tv does not have s-video...i was told to run an s-video cable from the gfx card, and then put a transformer addon which changes the signal from s-video to rca composite on the other end, then to connect it to the tv...would that work?

thx guys :p

yeah, there is a cable that i got with my card that switches s-video to composite. you might be able to get at radio shack or somethin like that. i love my 35" tv being my monitor, although as soon as i get enough money im going to get my 19" fixed, put a pci vid card in, and use the monitor for reading things, its kinda hard reading off of a tv, especially if you going through composite, everything shows darker through composite for me, good luck, ladr

I'd like to do the same thing.... But my tv doesn't even have RCA. I am probably going to buy an adapter for that soon, and then get everything else set up. Then I'll buy an s-video adapter. Hopefully that'll work.

have you tried putting composite into vcr (assuming you have one) then coax into your tv? that MIGHT work, no gurantees though

i plan on using this feature only for games. so yeah, i think it is worth it.

You can run composite through your VCR that works fine, or you can drop by your local RadioShack and get a RF Modulator (little box that converts composite signals to RF so u can use the yellow, white, red cable w the coax hookup) for $29.99 To convert the S-video over to composite there's a small adapter that goes inline and sells for $19.99 (it's a rip off but it gets the job done) Bet you all can't guess where I work :(

RF Modulator

I can't find the URL for the S-Video to composite adapter, wout the part number it's too hard :ermm: I would get the part number but I'm on vacation!! :D :D

Hope this was of some help!

Can you hook me up with some parts? :p

I'm looking into getting an s-video to composite adapter. I'd like to see if that'll work to use the VCR, or else i'll have to get an RF Modulator too..... It's amazing how much money we spend on this stuff.

i made my own cable aslong as i could its nice to play games on 32" sony widescreen tv shame about the borders tho :/

anyway playing in 800X600 or 680x480 looks very good on a tv and gives you a better frame rate :D
