Arckon
I have the latest drivers from creative, and they work fine w/ my SB Live Value card. One thing that is buggin me though, after installing those drivers, I got an auto-update thing from M$ popup by my systray askin me to download a new driver for my soundcard again. I went ahead and did it for the heck of it thinkin that maybe there was a bugfix out already or somethin. It turns out that those drivers failed to install for some reason. Also, I noticed an even newer driver over at windowsupdate, and they failed to install as well. Dunno wtf is up w/ that I forgot to mention that I am running XP Pro
mAcOdIn Veteran Posted July 19, 2002 Veteran Share Posted July 19, 2002 the windowsupdate and creative are seperate drivers. They offer basic functionality for the cards but not full as they lack EAX and maybe 5.1, and all the stupid apps too(darn ;-)) Same thing with nvidia drivers and they others they got, they have directx but no opengl. Generally you'll wan't the update from the manufactuer not MS.
CyberDude
Im happy with the Windows XP ready drivers, because I find that the ones by Sblive significantly slow down shut down and start up. So basically as long as I can get 4 speaker audio im happy :)

~Bull}{Dog~
im liking the 3rd party KX audio drivers right now, you can find em at http://www.kxproject.spb.ru/ and so far they have been better than any creative drivers ive used. sound quality is superb, and no changes to startup or shutdown times that ive noticed. these drivers are also really small, everything you need will be 1 or 2 megs, instead of a 300 meg driver kit that does nothing for your computer other than cause problems that you didnt have before. as you can tell, i dont like the way creative go about making their drivers... so yeah.. check those ones out, come on.. they have to be worth it, i registered just to tell you about em ;)
