thetombraider
OK when using Roxio 5, it stops and gives me errors. (I can't exactly tell them to u now cuz... its a long story) I have downloaded all the updates to roxio, and my CD burner is a generic IDE 8x4x32x so i havent been able to locate drivers. And please don't tell me to use Nero cuz I won't, and don't tell me to use Windows XP's built in capabilities cuz I won't do that either. Roxio does support my burner cuz i use it in windows 98. I have ALWAYS used roxio. And, yes, my burner is supported in Windows XP. So what can be wrong?
Dazzla Veteran Posted July 18, 2002 Veteran Share Posted July 18, 2002 Roxio 5 has severe troubles with XP, you have to istall it exactly the way Roxio say, not just a normal install. It's a mess on Windows XP to be frank so yeah I would reccommend nero. At least try an alternative so you know that the burner is working fine under XP, if it is then you know that Roxio is the problem.
thetombraider
I did try nero at one time, and it worked great on XP. So its not my burner. I did install Roio exactly as it had said. But after every uninstall and re-install it never worked. :(

Killed my HP writer every time.

thetombraider
:( I like Roxio tho haha. Well, after my format when I go back to a single boot with Windows XP, we'll try Roxio, and if it fails me, I will have to use Nero.

Dazzla Veteran Posted July 18, 2002 Veteran Share Posted July 18, 2002 The ironic thing is that Roxio Toast on OS X is a very good piece of software.

liar2
Originally posted by freeza they were much better as Adaptec! most definitely! I personally avoid roxio like the plague just like dazzla. I used to use it, but I liked nero's interface much better. I guess most of us recommend it more too. Just give it a shot, because roxio's software is a bit buggy. When I uninstalled it, it didn't even fully uninstall. It left a lot of crap there and refused to be deleted. I formatted, and all was good again. But I never went back to roxio. Just give nero a shot. or try fireburner. it rocks too.

+BudMan MVC Posted July 19, 2002 MVC Share Posted July 19, 2002 I am amazed at the demand for help! You give us basically no details beyond - Broke, please fix!! I could care if you can not burn CD's - get with Roxio to fix your problem. Oh - you didn't really buy the software, so you can not call them??? ;) Why do people expect any help with that attitude?? I f'd up my system - please tell me how to fix it. BTW - I can not tell you want errors it is giving - hmmm cuz, I guess I was too lazy to write them down, or take a screen dump. Its just broke - please fix it! There are "MANY" things that could be causing a problems with EasyCD - the biggest one is Easy CD itself ;) What does Roxio support of the burner have to due with this problem - you have not given us the first clue to what your problem is! So you burn with it in 9x - what does that have to do with XP, Details People, Details!!!! I have no idea what your problem even is - for all I know - you didnt put a blank CD in the thing! - aRRRGGGhhhh!!!! With that attitude - I could care if you ever burn a CD again! Good Luck!! Lets say it does work after you format - what did you learn about the problem?? You had something F'd up and it didn't work - well what was the underlying problem??? Was it a bad dll, was it a missing DLL, was it is???? Software doesn't work - wipe it clean!!! ARRRGGHHHH!! Do not get me wrong - I have wiped my share of systems, but when it is needed. Ie, never upgrade - install fresh if at all possible!! Working with system have never seen before, and so many F'ing problems that easiest thing to do is wipe. But come on, you can not get a piece of software to work. You didn't didn't even give us one piece of useable info to work up what could even be the problem - and you wipe it. Again - Good Luck! The reason I cannot give details is because this was happening before I dual-booted 98 and XP, which is now my current situation. Now I use Windows 98 to burn CDs, and Roxio isn't installed on Windows XP, SO... I can't give you what it says. And my statement about formatting again was because this dual-boot thing just isn't working on my small hard drive, and It's getting old, and I plan to format and install only Windows XP. Hence this thread... I want to get the problem solved, or at least some of the nicer ones here can point me in the right direction. OK so... you're mean. Don't jump to conclusions, that whole friggin post of yours was just your exaggerated theory.

Don't jump to conclusions, that whole friggin post of yours was just your exaggerated theory. Ok - so what your saying is you currently have "NO" problem - before you had a problem. But your not using roxio on XP at the moment. You plan on a wipe and clean install of XP - and forsee some problem - since in the past you had a problem. Arrrgghhh - Please do whatever you plan on doing. And come back when you have some details of something that is wrong. Most likely if you follow the VERY detailed instructions on the Roxio site for install of their software on XP - I highly doubt you will have any problems. But if you do - please come back with some details - I am sure all of us "NICE" people will help you out. BTW - Ummm once my car wouldn't start, and I'm thinking about buying a new one - um but I am thinking maybe it will not start someday - when/if that happens do you know whats wrong?? ;) -BudMan
