fishie
I have some files i encrypted a few hard drives ago and they are my files but now its on a damaged hd that i may be able to retreive the files but probably not to be able to get into xp. Is there a way to take control of these?
Jeremy1
Nope. That would defeat the whole purpose of encryption. THINK!

y_notm
this is a "feature" that has been built into the OS since at least 2000, probably as long as EFS has existed. You need to make a backup of your user certificate using certmgr.msc, which you can load onto to other profiles/installs to access those files
ShadowPHP
what is that ? 586702839[/snapback] I think he means he has transferred them to numerous other different hard drives since originally encrypting them.
