New Windos Media Player 11 Screenshot

Don't take this as trolling 'cause I am not even a Mac user, but it DOES look a lot like iTunes (which isn't a problem for me 'cause I like iTunes).  I personally like competition b/c I think it brings out the best in all sides (but that's just me).

The shot looks fantastic I think!

Anyways, here's an article on the October release:

How exactly does it look like iTunes..? What part of it?

It must be how the volume control is centered under the controller buttons...oops, guess not.

Must be how the Play, Back, and Next buttons are all circular...hmm, guess it's not that either.

Ok, it has to be how the glaze on the buttons is the exact same...or it isn't...

Maybe they're the same because the position bar is located above the controller buttons...but it's not in iTunes.

Well, gee, could this be an unfounded assertion?

Its cool, but not all that dissimilar to WMP9 or 10... and I don't see what the big deal is here. And it really doesn't look anything like iTunes besides the fact that both have shiny looking buttons... but even those don't look anything alike with even the shapes being different.

anyone notice this?

there's a difference in the Cleartype from the WMP11 UI (and taskbar icon) to the rest os the text on the taskbar.

Probably because this is a mockup, not live bits.

Just wondering - how come the taskbar is not transparent??... or is it something u can turn off....

erm, I was wondering the same the other day, and my thoughts brought me a conclusion... this WMP11 build is actually a "newer" one, it is not on the 5231 CTP.. I heard the commentaries somebody from microsoft was able to post it so that everyone could see it... looks like a November Build before Beta 2....

first off, if you see the WMP skin is not Glass'd in the 5231 build... unlike this one, which looks freekin awesome... second, the taskbar is opaque in this screen, and in the 5231 it has some less opacity than the one in this last screenshot...

Good, someone could say "Oh but you are able to have the taskbar totally opaque in the 5231 build, if your card doesnt support DWM or if you disable it..." I know that, but in this screenshot, DWM is actually on... dont you see WMP rendering it?

another thing I tried, was adding some weird DWORD value into LOCAL_MACHINE / SOFTWARE / Microsof / DWM /

This is what I added:

TaskbarAlpha DWRD value = 255

I remember that in Visual basic you get 0 and its totally transparent, and 255 becomes totally opaque... I havent read about Avalon opacity but I will soon, and I dont know if the crap I tried even works lol.. well It doesnt but looks like possibkle...

in resume, that bar being totally opaque, means that next builds should come with such option to give the taskbar the opacity you NEED! woot! lol...

Vista owns... :shifty:

Wait for the XP Beta then :)

Rumours from Adam Curry say that they're working on WMP11 for XP with podcasting support etc

This isn't a build. It is a mockup.

It is not a screenshot, it is a mockup. Possibly made in Photoshop?

There is no rendering going on. This is a mockup.

Now you're making up registry keys?

in resume, that bar being totally opaque, means that next builds should come with such option to give the taskbar the opacity you NEED! woot! lol...

This mockup means nothing. Don't assume Vista will give you the option to change transparency just because this mockup has an opaque taskbar. What nonsense.

Vista owns...  :shifty:

Vista will probably own, but misinformation certainly does not.
