vcv
Looks AWESOME!! I wish WMP had iPod support! :( 586695879 I think WMP11 may have syncing support with iPod but I'm not sure. I think they were at least considering it.

imtoomuch
Wow this is really nice-looking! It looks like MS is doing its best to get the graphics of Windows and its apps perfect this time. I can hardly wait for Vista! :D By the way it looks nothing like iTunes. I love iTunes, but there's no resemblance at all!
Mike Frett
I agree, first thing that popped into my head was iTunes. I am a Windows user, but damn, this copy and rearrange crap needs to stop. Come up with something original for goodness sakes. /flame suit on

Fonze
For all the people calling this a mockup I don't know if you've seen the new GUI tools microsoft is working on, codename sparkle, but if they can make a mockup, then more than likely it will look like that in the final product. All this talk of MS ripping stuff off, how many times do we have to see this same troll ripped off? Besides, didn't WMP come out before itunes? ZZOOzzoo
How come every time MS reveals something some idiots come out screaming how it's rip-off of Apple's product? If some of you didn't know this yet, iTunes is not the first music player to have such breathtaking innovative features such as play, pause, next button and volume slide. :insert rolleyes emoticon: WMP11 looks like rearranged and glassified version of WMP10 with prettier graphic element to me, and WMP10 looked like a glossy version of rearranged WMP9 with more features and so on... iTunes has nothing to do with it! If you're gonna assert something inflammatory then please come up with at least one valid reason. I'm a Mac user and, of course, use iTunes as my primary music player. However, I must admit that WMP11 in the screenshot is one helluva sexy music player I've ever seen and I can't wait to play with this on my sister's PC. .Neo
It looks nice and is functional but it will look different in XP right? 586698507 The layout will probably look exactly the same but I wouldn't count on the glass effect. :)

.Neo
If it's a mockup it would explain why the font antialiasing of WMP is different from the rest of the system.

Wolvereen
How exactly does it look like iTunes..? What part of it? 586694700 I was actually referring to a couple of things... 1) Playlist, Library, and Device layout on the left 2) Song listing layout 3) Somewhat similiar layouts Its not a bad thing that its similiar (note that I am not calling it a ripoff). I think the best products come from observing what people like about your competitors. Take the best of ALL worlds!!

Of course they're going to be SOMEWHAT similar, they are both media players!
Brandon Live Veteran Posted October 21, 2005 Veteran Share Posted October 21, 2005 I think it's a safe bet to say this is a (Microsoft) mock-up.... For a start there is a tier missing from the tree menu, there are no artists listed yet there is one selected (see above pic for the kind of layaout it "should" be displaying with "Artists" selected), plus I?m guessing the anti-aliased text from the content of the window is an artefact of Photoshop, not the new engine. Saying that I see no reason why it shouldn?t look like this when its finished (albeit more polished) and I can't wait until that day, I for one are beginning to get ragged off with iTunes and it's unwillingness to "play ball". 586688855 Umm, what are you talking about? Your screenshot is in the top-level Album view, the other is narrowed down to an Artist. You can tell by the bread-crumb bar. The tree-view on the left isn't supposed to list artists anymore.
