No way I will ever pay for ms windows. I don't wanna get ripped off by microsoft. :pinch:

I prefer spend the money to a project like Gnome, the Kernel, or Mozilla or OpenOffice or Ubuntu etc etc...

I might used to have said yes, but after seeing all the lies from MS about how secure XP was supposed to be and how it wouldn't have to be patched so often and how they now want to snoop in your machine to see if it's legal or not and etc..................................

I've switched to Ubuntu Linux on all 5 of my machines now anyway. Screw MS!! :p

I know a guy that works at MS and he can get Windows XP Pro Retail (Yes, retail full box) at the MS Company Store for employees for $20.

So yes. I got loads of XP Pros at home :p

Yes I would buy it and I have both Xp Home and Pro over a few years.

Few things I would never own pirated

1) My OS

2) My office program

3) any anti virus app

I bought a copy for $40 from Microsoft as part of a promotional display package.

I wouldn't spend more than $40 on an operating system (or any other piece of software, to be truthful, I usually wait a couple weeks after new games come out because I hate the idea of $50 video games (which I usually get bored with after about eight hours)).

If I couldn't steal it? :ninja: I'd use Windows 2000?

If it cost 1 penny or 1 thousand pounds, people would still pirate software.

People are predictable, if they can get it for nowt then they would.

Windows is the most important app on my machine, and as such I am more than willing to pay for legitimate support.

That said, the CD did nce get used to install a laptop for a few weeks when I was on holiday...

Now I think you can download lets say software from a non-retail shop, on-line shop or website that created it, warez lets say, I am sure it's not theft till you install it against the e.u.l.a. or then go selling it or making it available to other users via torrents, i.r.c. or p2p networks.

I use legit b.t.w.

Say you worked in PC world and half-inched one from the shelf or walked in helped yourself and got away Scot or even got a copy off a friend or a boot market/puter fair would that count as stealing with respect to the title?
