bomba6
Hi there. I have the latest vista build (5231, but not the idx one). I tried to install both AVG free and Kaspersky Personal Pro, but failed: AVG could not write to registry; Kaspersky refuses to start (Can't install on this windows machine, or something like that). I heard both of them should work though... Any idea of another software? I would really like to connect to the net from Vista.. Thanks, Guy. bomba6
How about Symantect Anti-Virus v10... Hmmm... what about it? I found only "antivirus v10 for Macintosh" on symantec's web site. Can you please give me a link to that product? (P.S. did you mean this one? http://www.symantec.com/smallbiz/sav_sbe/index.html hmmm.. Not for my needs, I think..) scumdogmillionaire
so -- use the net and don't do anything stupid and you should be good. until AV software advertises it is vista compatible, i doubt you're going to find one. every av product i know of sits at kernel level. if the kernel is changed say from xp to vista, like it has, you're not getting any of them to work. Jeremy1
Not only do I run Vista without an AV, I run my everyday XP system without an AV as well. If you're smart about it, an AV is absolutely not a requirement for going online.

Allan
You could also use "Run in Compatibility Mode" and select Windows XP
