mrmumbles
Hi I bought a Gainward Geforce 4 Ti4200, the card works in all my game etc.. just on the odd occasion Win98 seems to lock up at the beginning of startup. Was working fine with my old Geforce 2 MX so can only assume that the new card is causing the probs just wondering if anyone else has had any probs? Have got latest drivers Detonator 28.32 drivers Any ideas would be appreciated Cheers
SNN1978
Go back to the drivers you were using with your GeForce 2.

Joseph Zollo
Goto Run and type "msconfig", then goto the startup section, toy around with the startup apps, see if they are causing your problem. Are you running 98, or SE?
mrmumbles
cheers for the help :) i was using the same drivers for my GF 2 so i dont think that could be the prob (28.32) , i used detonator destroyer to completely remove the drivers before i put the new card in then, and then reinstalled them i will try updating my drivers to c if that makes a diff. but just the 8mb dl on a 56k :( the only thing that i think has been added to startup is the EXPERTool that comes with the card to overclock it, change display settings etc... i did have the card overclocked slightly, and it changed clock speeds at startup, obv. changing the display, perhaps my problem? havent had as many lock ups since putting it back to original settings anyway for my 1st post on neowin, thanx for the help ;)
Yvo
Sometimes the best way to get that GPU to work the best is to do a nice clean install. Sounds terrible, but it is the truth. Even after removing those drivers little bits and pieces of the old video card stays behind. Also a lot of games you need to re-run (if possible) the windows based configuration settings.
