Are the Imation discs the one with the Cyanine dye? Use CDRIdentifier v1.63 from www.gum.de and make sure you have a ASPI layer installed and see what ATIP info you get from the disc. It's most likely CMC Magnetics since that's what all Imation uses, that's the reason for your problem. If you read www.cd-rw.org on the CDR Media forum, you will find that CMC Magnetics CDR's are really bad quality. They will record fine and it will play a few times and then it just won't read anymore or when it does read after failing, the tracks will have static on it. This has been a problem with CMC Cyanine media ever since the 4x days. The Philips 50pack 40x 700mb 80min that were Free after rebate at CompUSA a few weeks ago are the same discs too. They also gave out a 100pack 40x 700Mb 80min Philips spindle after rebate when you bought a 24x LiteOn CDRW drive for $39.99. The same discs will be on sale and free after rebate for 100 pack Philips beginning on July 21st from bestbuy. The Imations were $1.99 after rebate. All the good discs were atleast $2.99 for Fuji 80min 700mb 24x 50 pack that works fine at 40x and were made by Taiyo-Yuden in Japan.
