40X CD Writer - is it a lot to pay?

Recommended Posts

I posted this ages ago, but I spent all of my money, and didn't buy it. P.S. I can't find the original thread.

Right, I have don't my GCSE's and my parents have offered to buy me a few things.

I know a bloke who will install a new 40X CD Wrighter for ?60, with some programmes and 100 blank CD's, and he will most likely do some other tweaking to my PC as well (thats why I'm getting him to do it, and not installing it myself). It will be a good make (although I don't know what make it is) but is ?60 a lot to pay, remebering that its my parents who are paying and not me.

Pack of Generics (100 pack) w/o sleeves or jewels is $16 US

Pack of name brand, Ritek, (100 pack) w/o sleeves or jewels is $18 US

Now his parents are paying so the best 40X CDRW is a plextor for $112.50 US.

A Lite-On 40X is $62 US.

A generic or MSI burner (having experiences, they aren't the best) isn't that well if you can profit from your parents paying ;)
