psybapunk
AK 47, M4a1, AWP, Deagle, and many more. 586764265 you play too much Counter-Strike. Owning guns is fine, my father and grandfather have guns, rifles, for hunting and keeping coyotes away from the horses. I don't have any problem with that. Its the whackjobs who own AK47s that scare me. 586764271 whats wrong with AK-47's? My AK is one of the most dependable weapons I have ever owned, drag it through the mud, throw it off a cliff and run it over with a car, pick it up, pull back the action and fire away. You sir, also watch and believe what you see in the movies is real.

I'm well aware of their reputation for reliability. The difference is, the rifles my father and grandfather own are tools, owning a rifle of some sort is a necessity in rural areas. There is a profound difference between a hunting rifle, and a military grade assault rifle. What exactly do you plan to do with your AK, as I would have no problem labelling someone who owned an AK47 "for protection" a whackjob.

Mike Frett
No. Don't need or want one. If I had my way, there'd be no such thing as a gun. Obviously i'm in the minority.

n3wt
read my post on the previous page Done and done, and I'm quite sure even you don't believe that crap. I'm not really going to start into the whole "going shooting" thing, as I don't really know anything about it, as its not really something you hear about happening up here. But I find the idea that someone would own a firearm just to take it to the range and fire at some targets questionable. But the whole reliability thing, is bull****. I have fired a gun, and I have seen people fire guns, and I have generally been around guns my entire life. And, I have never, repeat, never seen a gun jam. We are talking about guns being taken out of the gun rack and fired at coyotes and deer here (or targets I suppose) not a gun that has been dragged through the jungle and is full of mud. So, I reiterate, I can think of no reason beyond just general insecurity or lunacy, for a civilian to own a military grade assault rifle.

I own my AK and my SKS's because they are pieces of history, used in a good majority of all military conflicts in the 20th century. I myself have seen lots of guns jam, but my AK is a engineering marvel, so simplistic yet so effective. The AK-47 and almost all assault rifles were designed to kill humans in armed conflict, I will not deny that. It doesn't mean that I have to use it for what its designed for. It's not something I made up. One of the large gatherings where a lot of the shooters or general enthusiasts get together is known as the Knobcreek Machinegun Shoot with occurs twice a year. This gun show has all of the big military weapons and civilians can pay to shoot them at this big range. You say that you've never seen a gun jam before. Good for you. Most of the weapons you've been around are probably cleaned and oiled regularly between being shot once a year. The weapons I am talking about have 1000's of rounds go through them in an year and get cleaned maybe once. All of that abuse without a single missfire. A shotgun would probably hold up to that abuse, but most hunting rifles do not have the tolerance that an Ak does. As psybapunk stated, this weapon is an engineering marvel and I truely agree with that. I don't drag this gun through the mud but it does get a lot of ammunition put through it and that is enough abuse for any civilian weapon.

calidude
Nope, not right now. I don't know how to use one either. My mom would kill me if she knew I had one (long story). I would probably get in trouble with my apartment complex if they found out I had one (it's federal property so I get reduced rent :D ).
george769
i have a total of 12 weapons ranging from .22 cal all the way up to .50 bmg. I like to collect and shoot. a gun is an inanimate object that cannot do anything whatsoever on it's own. as life is full of opinions this is mine on guns. some folks think that getting rid of guns is the answer. won't happen in our life time. one group wants to control ours lives to believe the same way for everything. won't happen in our lifetime. if you don't like guns stay away from them. Europe has some of the most restrictive gun laws in the world, and still people get killed. JUST MY OPINION
