sfalcon
You need to learn how to operate a computer if you are formating every 14 days 586765384[/snapback] I reformat every few months (usually only about twice a year though). Not because I fubar the system, but just because after awhile I want a clean slate. It's just a matter of preference rather than necessity. Echilon
I think my record is about 7 months. Normally it's about two and a half, then it gets so clogged up that I need a reinstall. I have it down to a fine art now, so it only takes a few hours from format to the way I like it.
s0nic69
Its been about 4 months, but i think in the next month im going to be re-installing, i add too much junk to it, specially all that beta stuff, if it can go wrong, it will go wrong. Just my luck. :pinch:

Purple Haze
Usually I go every 4-6 months, but I'm over 8 months right now and it's still going strong. No need to reformat to me if it's still running as fast and smooth as ever.

It's slightly common in my family and I used to be the same way. Normally people would think that it's fine, but he doesn't.

rickm550
Well back in the years with crappy 98 it used to be like 1 to 2 months. But the 2000, XP, 2003 my installs last for months if not years - except for major hardware changes

I actually DO 'dirty up' the system.. and i'm sure this will be frowned upon, but i don't use any firewall/viruscan.. I really didn't think it was that big of a deal, it doesnt take that much time, and i'm just restoring a backup of a previous install that I like.. geez. I dont have OCD lol. If i havent messed up any system files or fubar'd my registry then I can last beyond 2 weeks.. I don't have a strange desire to reformat, I just do it when i know i need to ..which happens to be every 2 weeks or so. now leave me alone!
Narlzac85
I had an install for over a year until august 2nd when I got a new motherboard, reinstalled windows and the board died during install (only lasted a few minutes!), so I sent it back and will be installing it tonight...but I'm not reinstalling this time, unless I need to
