markwolfe Veteran Posted November 7, 2005 Veteran Share Posted November 7, 2005 Well, http://gb.archive.ubuntu.com resolves for me. And I can even use a browser to fing the gpg key at http://gb.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/dists/breezy/Release.gpg Apparently, your network is not set up properly? Can you open up any of those links in Firefox or other browser? How about a ping of that site? Perhaps try a traceroute to see how far your request gets out? seafirex
if you are having issue with root password, here is my tought on this and for me at least it works. sudo passwd root then change the password. then for your updates, had the proper links in your configs then try agian it should work and if it request for a password then you allready know it as per you jsut changed it. another thing is once password is change then use the elevated shell and input the root password when requested then do the updates. hope it helps

markwolfe Veteran Posted November 7, 2005 Veteran Share Posted November 7, 2005 Well, there is the problem with your sudo apt-get update. When you do an apt-get it (by default) will search the repositories online. If you cannot get online, then your apt-get will fail, just like it did here. As for getting your WPA, I don't know (unless you can connect to a wired ethernet port, which should work just fine).
