what kind of ram for a P4?

Recommended Posts

I am planning to get a P4 but haven't decided on DDR or RDRAM. I am looking at 2 asus motherboards, the P4B533-V with the 845G with PC2700 DDR or the P4T533-C with 1066 RDRAM.

Is it worth paying double for the RDRAM? I am in Canada, and it is expensive and very limited.

I won't be doing anything extreme. The price difference of the ram is the same as the price difference between the P4 2.26 and the 2.4B.

P4 2.26 with 1066 RDRAM or P4 2.4B with DDR will cost roughly the same price.

asus p4t533 with 512 rimm4200 winxp boots in 12 seconds to desktop.

all video and dvd burning apps have no effects what so ever and the cpu is the 2.26B @ 2.55

heh DDR doesn't beat RDRAM. I'd rather believe in Max. Pc then TomsHardware :), they did a lil review and the rdram boards came out on top, its a shame Intel wants to get rid of RDRAM now :ermm: since it is much faster than DDR, if I were you get RDRAM and get the 2.2Ghz P4, Since u won't be doin much it shouldn't really matter what speed as long as its 2Ghz like mine :)

hehe, i don't have the IT7, i got the AT7 which is the the Athlon version. I love this thing tho and i hear good things about the IT7 too. I still wont go Intel tho, to me AMD is just king right now.

oh and DDR400 kills RDRAM (PC-800). THG has the results :) PC-1000* is the boss right now but it should be.. It's so much faster
