Copying VCDs on a PC

Question

I have a 40X CD-ROM drive, and when I copy normal CDs to my hard disks for quick access, it usually copies over inside of 4 minutes. However, when I copy the video files (in the folder MPEGAV) on a VCD, it takes much longer (up to 11 minutes). Even using CloneCD to create an image takes this long. What is the reason for this? Is the file structure read differently, or is there a setting in windows that causes this slow reading of VCDs? Are there applications out there that will allow me to copy VCDs onto the hard disk faster?

Nope, VCDs and SVCDS use a standard CDFS (compliant CD File system).

You might be waiting a while because the MPEGAV directory is pretty big - normally the max capacity for the cd.

Have patience, buddy, or split your vcd into smaller sizes?

Cheers

vcd is not regular cd. it's mode2.

some crappy drives have problems reading mode2 cds.

also some drives have prblms reading some burned cd..bad media, scratches, inproper mastering..

anyway, try www.vcdgear.com it'll convert vcd/svcd to proper standalone mpeg file
