Product:

80GB Deskstar 120GXP Internal EIDE Ultra ATA/100 7200RPM Hard Drive

Question:

To buy or not to buy?

My reasons

I found it for $73.49 shipped.. and well I've been wanting to buy me a new harddrive, but I've been waiting till I find a good drive for a good price.

I have an 80 gig IBM drive sitting on my desk now. It's a replacement for the 75 gig "Deathstar" that died on me. I'm not sure what I'm going to do with it.

My advice is find another drive and get it instead.

Dang $81 shipped. thats a great deal. what site is selling it for that cheap?

I've had my IBM 60GXP 40gb drive for over a year with no problems. But quite a few of the 75GXP 80GB IBM drives at my work have crashed because of bad sectors on them.

while surfing http://slickdeals.net/ i found the deal i was telling you about.

oh ... it's actually selling for $73.49

"Dell Home has the IBM 120GXP 80GB 7200RPM Hard Drive for $86. There is an automatic 10% off. Apply coupon code 87315AF761DC for another 5% off which drops your price down to $73. Free next day shipping. Search for "A0009135" to find it.

."

Man I just read more reviews, I've never seen such mixed reviews for a product.. some poeple love it, others HATE it...

I guess I'll skip this deal.... anyhow thanks a lot for the comments.....

Personally I recommend the Seagate Barracuda ATA IV 80GB drive. It's by far the quietest drive you can get in this class, and it's extremely reliable.

If all you care about is speed though, the Western Digital 120GB 8MB cache model is the fastest IDE out there right now.

Get Maxtors, they are the best for speed and reliability. I have one quantum (maxtor bought them and used their technology) that is over 7rs old, still runs as sweet as pie :)
