game_over Posted November 12, 2005 Share Posted November 12, 2005 i've just installed steam and it's now running. now all my other apps are running really slow. from task manager its saying its only using 6,790 k now but it was something like 40,000 k is this normal for steam? looks like a pretty basic app, ive also got 2gb pc3200 ram and amd athlon 64 3000+ so didnt think it would be a problem? s0nic69 Posted November 12, 2005 Share Posted November 12, 2005 unless ur other applications are running slow when steam is NOT running, then i would worry, dont worry so much if they are running slow when steam is running, steam updates (like everyone else mentioned) i recomend that u go to steam settings and remove it from starting up when windows starts, that way it only loads when u wanna play games. If its really slowing down your computer extremly, according to your specs, i would say u test ur ram and make sure ur porcessor is working fine.
