Toxikk Veteran Posted July 25, 2002 Veteran Share Posted July 25, 2002 I have heard from a credible source that WinAMP 3RC4 build 483 will be released tomorrow. I heard it is hella stable also! keep your eyes peeled for that.

mcb
does anyone else notice that winamp3 takes about 3 times longer to load, yet performs the same basic functions, with some added features?
astrokat
OMG, you would think they were reinventing the wheel ..... this program has been in development forever. Yup, winamp3 takes about 100 years longer to load, and eats RAM like fat dudes eat twinkees.
Toxikk Veteran Posted July 25, 2002 Author Veteran Share Posted July 25, 2002 that is what i imagine these last builds are for. they are prolly to clean the code up and make it run quicker. actually, i would rather it run and not crash than load fast.... kawai
I think one of the biggest problem with Winamp 3 would be lack of cool looking and usable skins. I would switch to WA3 in a heartbeat if they have a really nice theme (iTune or what not)

squarepants
In response to mcb: Of course it load slow. Its BETA, as in, not optimized code. Also, the new framework used in Winamp 3 (wasabi) will allow developers to use winamp as the base for some amazing applications. Winamp 3 also allows you to have as much, or as little, functionality as suits you by simply removing or adding simple xml files. In other words, a sourpuss like you ;) will be able to use winamp 3 the same way you've used winamp 2. Other, more ambitious users, can extend the application in many different ways. When the software is finally released you will see it is an amazing program.
