Help to stop ICQ from showing at startup.

Question

I need some help on how to set a program to stop updating a registry entry. I have ICQ 2002b build3722, the one that actually accepts .msstyles, but when it starts up it plays the startup sound and shows up on screen. No versions ever did that until that release.

Anyways... I know the 2 registry entries that can be changed so that ICQ starts up the way it used to, and it works, but after ICQ launches, it changes the registry entries again.

So how can I stop ICQ from doing that???

Thanx.

Mine loads using .msstyles too, thats why I use this version.

I don't and never have allowed the splash screen to show, I always have had ALL sounds enabled and never had any start-up sound unless started manually, and there is no option in Preferences for it to not show at start-up, there is an option for not showing the splash screen at start-up though.

You gotta 2 ways to stop ICQ loads on start up win....

1. check your icq options.... ( unclick the LAUNCH ICQ AT START UP )

2. type msconfig " at your RUN start menu..... choose start up options.. and then uncheck the ICQ....

good luckk... :) :) :) :) :)

I want ICQ to load at start-up, I just want it to load the way it has normally for the past 6/7 years. Believe me, I've tried alot of different ways, but nothing does the trick properly.

Like if I disable it from starting up, and put n icon in windows start-up folder, I can make it sart minimized which would be perfect if it wasn't for the fact that this ICQ version minimizes to the taskbar and not the tray like normal, unless there's something I can add to the shortcut to make it min to tray???

Man, what version of ICQ you use? The beta version was minimizing to taskbar, but mine isn't minimizing to taskbar but to tray. It's not even show in the taskbar!!! For a 'know-it-all' guy that hacked ICQ and all for 6-7 years, it don't look like it.
